MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Up +0.44%, Driven by Gains in Banking, Industrial Counters

Market movers: WEMABANK (+7.94%), UACN (+6.67%), STERLNBANK (-8.77%) and PZ (-7.55%),

Sector Performances:  Industrial (+1.62%), Banking (+0.21%), Oil & Gas (-0.10%) and Consumer Goods (-0.01%).

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value decreased by 40% and 48% respectively compared to this time last Friday, as investors have traded about 52million units of shares worth N487million. ZENITHBANK (+0.20%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 7million units of shares accounting for about 13% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close up today if the gains in the Industrial and Banking sectors persist.
