Stakeholders to brainstorm on cash-less policy

Cashless policyThe Central Bank of Nigeria, international and local institutions and stakeholders will converge on Lagos for a conference on the cash-less policy introduced by the CBN.

A statement made available to our correspondent on Tuesday said the experts would be drawn from various relevant sectors of the economy like banking, manufacturing, telecommunications, services, the informal sector and outside Nigeria.

It noted that the stakeholders would meet to deliberate on the issues surrounding the cash-less policy.

“The two-day programme, sponsored mainly by the CBN, focuses on the country’s transition to a cash-less society, with respect to the possibilities and challenges,” it said.

The forum is expected to bring together experts in the global payments industry, who would provide insight and present key developments from other jurisdictions, to benchmark the way forward.

Key speakers expected at the forum are Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola; Governor, CBN, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Mohammed Bello Adoke, Minister of Communication and Technology, Mrs. Mobola Johnson.

Others are Head, Payment Systems Development Group, World Bank, Mr. Massimo Cirasino.
