Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Christine Lagarde, managing director (MD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Monday said the Fund endorsed the reform action adopted by Ukraine’s authorities and the national bank of Ukraine in its economic development.
“I welcomed the reforms adopted by the government and the National Bank of Ukraine so far and encouraged the authorities to carry this reform momentum throughout the program,” Lagarde said.
She met in Washington D.C with Stepan Kubiv, governor, Oleksandr Shlapak and Pavlo Sheremeta Ukrainian ministers on recent economic developments in the country.
According to Lagarde, based on the good progress made and on completion by the authorities in implementing the policy actions, the IMF will consider the request for a stand by arrangement (SBA) for Ukraine.
‘’I expect the board will be in a position to consider this in the coming weeks,’’ she said.
