The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has announced the appointment of veteran broadcaster, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, as its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division.
A statement signed by the Group Executive Director, Finance and Accounts, NNPC, Mr. Bernard Otti, stated that the appointment was with immediate effect.
“An alumnus of the University of Benin, Alegbe comes on the job with three decades of experience, which has seen him traverse broadcast, print, public relations and advertising genres of public communications,” the statement added.
Alegbe replaces Dr. Omar Ibrahim, who acted as the head of the department before the new appointment.
Last week, sources at the corporation had told one of our correspondents that Ibrahim had been removed as the spokesperson of the NNPC.
Efforts to get Ibrahim to comment on the issue were unsuccessful as he neither answered calls to his mobile telephone number, nor responded to text messages sent to him.
