Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Access Bank Plc on Wednesday said it will offer a 35 percent discount to its Visa cardholders on the purchase of British Airways tickets using their cards.
The lender said the incentive only covers flight tickets to any route flown by British Airways from either Lagos or Abuja. “The 35% discount is applicable to all ticket classes including Business, Premium Economy and Economy,” a statement from Access Bank said.
Segun Ogbonnewo, head, channels group, of the bank at the launch of the product said the partnership with British Airways is aimed at improving the lifestyle of the bank’s customers, “payments for ticket bookings can also be made online with the use of Access Visa Card,” he added.
“Access Bank and British Airways agreed to introduce this Reward Initiative into Nigeria’s financial landscape in line with the Financial Inclusion initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) even as it serves as a platform to bring more and more of the under-banked and unbanked into the world of banking,” Ogbonnewo affirmed.
Similarly, Justin Ijeh, head, card products of the bank added that the Access Bank, British Airways Reward Initiative will help customers pay, fly and save. “Customers with Access Visa Card can pay for flights in the convenience of their home or office, fly with a renowned and trusted airline and save up to 35 percent on all fares. This is something we are proud to champion,” Ijeh said.
Share price of the lender climbed up slightly 0.01 percent to N6.50 from N6.49 at the end of trading on the floor of the Nigerian bourse.
The shares of Access Bank has continued to soar high on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) amidst its ongoing rights issue scheduled to close today Wednesday March 04, 2014 barring unforeseen circumstances.
The Africa’s top tier lender on January 26 opened its N52.6 billion ($275.10 million) rights issue at N6.90 per share and offered to sell 7.63 billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each at a ratio of one new share for every three held by existing shareholders.
