Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Kenya is set to interview a new central bank governor and would hold interview for five (5) short-listed candidates on April 7 a press statement from the Public Service Commission said on Friday.
“Pursuant to the provisions of Article 231 of the Constitution and Sections 10 -15 of the Central Bank of Kenya Act, Chapter 491, Laws of Kenya, the Public Service Commission invited applications from suitably qualified persons for the positions of Chairperson, Governor and Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya through the daily newspapers and the Commission’s website on 11th March, 2015. The advertisement closed on 24th March, 2015,” the statement added.
The successful candidate will replace Njuguna Ndung’u, whose term ended earlier this month after eight years in office.
Those short-listed for interview are Geoffrey Mwau, the Economics Secretary at the National Treasury, Peninah Wanjira Kariuki, and Edward Sambili, who was the deputy central bank governor.
The others are current central bank deputy governor Haron Sirima and Patrick Ngugi Njoroge.
In the same vein the interview for the position of the chairman will be conducted the same April 7.
The Public Service Commission in Kenya is saddled with the task of recruiting government staff.
