Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said on Wednesday it has dropped foreign cheque printers and appointed Nigerian companies.

“All the accredited printers had been duly notified and certificates issued. Please note that foreign based printers were neither accredited nor re-accredited, in line with the Bank’s policy on the domestication of cheque printing in Nigeria,” the CBN said

Those appointed are Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Plc (NSPM), cheque printers, Tripple Gee and Company Plc, Euphoria Group, SuperFlux International Ltd and Papi Printing Company Ltd as qualified cheque printers for 2015/16.

This is contained in a circular with reference number BPS/DIR/CIR/08/2015 dated August 18, 2015 and signed by Dipo Fatokun, director, banking and payments system department of the CBN.

The nation’s apex bank affirmed the accreditation was in furtherance of its mandate to ensure an efficient Payment and settlement System, in collaboration with the MICR Technical Implementation Committee, which conducted the accreditation and re-accreditation exercise, in line with the NICPAS qualification criteria.
