Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc on Thursday announced the resignation of Maryam Uwais as an independent non-executive director from the board of the financial Holdco.

“Her resignation is effective from February 2, 2016,” Stanbic IBTC said in an issuer’s announcement with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

According to the financial Holdco, Uwais was appointed to its board in November 2012 and has since lent her wealth of experience to the board and has been an invaluable addition to the organisation.

Stanbic IBTC said that Uwais’ resignation came as a result of her taking up an appointment with the Federal Government which precludes her participation or engagement in the management or running of any private business, trade or profession.

“The board at its meeting held on February 3, 2016 formally accepted the resignation of Uwais,” the Holdco added.

Stanbic IBTC said it will notify the NSE of the appointment of a new independent non-executive director to replace Uwais upon conclusion of the selection exercise in line with extant regulations.
