Cowry Asset Says CEO to Speak on Private Equity at Power Conference

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Investment banking firm, Cowry Asset Management Limited said on Friday Johnson Chukwu, managing director (MD) of the company will present a Paper “Private Equity as tool for building the electricity sector of the future” at the 19th Annual Power and Electricity World Africa 2016 conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Chukwu will present his paper as a Keynote speaker at one of the Plenary Sessions of the Conference organised by Terrapinn, a World leader in business events with offices in London, New York, Signapore, Sidney, Dubai and Johannesburg.

Other Nigerians expected to present papers at the event include Haliru Dikko, head, market, competition and rates Division Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and John Kingsley Amaechi Achife, executive director Distribution Services, Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, Nigeria.

World leaders in the Energy sector expected to grace the event include Dirk Smit, vice president Exploration Technology, chief scientist, Innovation and R&D, Royal Dutch Shell Plc, The Netherlands; Daniel Kammen, distinguished professor of Energy, University of California, United States.

Also, to attend the conference are some serving and past  African energy ministers including James Musoni minister, Ministry of Infrastructure, Rwanda, Henry Olufumi Macauley, minister, Ministry of Energy, Sierra Leone, Bruno Kapandji Kalala, minister, Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, DRC.

According to Cowry Asset, issues to be discussed at the conference would center on Africa’s energy future such as formulating standards for integrating renewable energy into the grid, how to secure investment with limited strings attached, private equity as the tool for building the electricity sector of the future and a lot more.

The conference is scheduled to hold on March 15 and 16, 2016 at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa.
