Ecobank Says New MobileApp for Easy Everyday Banking

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Pan-African lender, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) on Thursday launched a new mobile banking application “Ecobank MobileApp” for ease of everyday banking.

“The Ecobank MobileApp allows customers to do all their mobile money and mobile banking in one place on their phones, Ade Ayeyemi, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Bank said at the launch of the product in Lagos Nigeria.

According to Ayeyemi, Ecobank Mobile integrates ETI’s services into a new, more easy-to-use e-wallet on phones and would be available in all the 33 countries where the pan-African lender has branches.

The Ecobank MobileApp provides customers with an easy tool to manage their accounts and conduct transactions in simple steps. “It is safe and secure, available wherever you take your mobile phone with you. The app also gives you automatic access to an e-wallet account,” the GCEO of Ecobank added.

Patrick Akinwuntan, Ecobank group executive Consumer Banking showed how to make a payment, how to send and receive money to merchants using Ecobank Masterpass QR technology. He also showed that opening an XpressAccount was an instant and easy transaction. “For customers to enjoy the benefit of the product, the Ecobank XpressAccount does not require references in opening of the account,” he said.

The service is an enhancement to customers experience and it brings a technology to the country which will help Bank customers leapfrog into the digital age – all using the market’s existing mobile banking infrastructure.

For existing Ecobank Mobile users, all that is required is to simply download the App authenticate their device by dialing *326# using their registered number and do a PIN change, then log in to the app to start using it.

For new Ecobank user, they should download the app, click on new user and register their details such as the mobile number they have registered against their bank accounts.

On completion they will receive a short message with their first one-time 6 digit PIN, they should log into the app with the one-time 6 digit PIN and change the PIN to a new 6 digit PIN of their choice and they can start using the Ecobank Mobile app with e-wallet account.

For new non-Ecobank users, all they need to do is to download the app, click on new user and register with their details. On completion they will receive a short message with their first one-time 6 digit PIN, they can log on to the app with the 6 digit PIN and change the PIN to a new 6 digit  PIN of their choice and start using the service.

To access bank accounts, all a customer will do is to request for their registered phone number to activate for Ecobank Mobile at the nearest branch.

The Ecobank Mobile Features include managing all their bank accounts and e-wallets from the app, accounts balance inquiry and transaction history, make transfers to Ecobank and other Banks account in Nigeria.

With this service, customers can also send funds to their e-wallet and other Ecobank e-wallets, send money to a contact in their phones, buy airtime and make other bill payments.
