Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Henceforth Nigerian Banks are required to link individual customer’s account to their Tax Identification Number (TIN).
“In line with regulatory requirements and to ensure continued access to your bank account, we request that you update your account with your tax Identification Number (TIN). The Tax Identification Number is a unique allocated for the purpose of paying taxes,” an email from one of the commercial banks read.
To ensure compliance, bank customers can update their accounts with their TIN by sending an email with their account number and TIN.
Also, customers can visit any of their bank branches to provide their TIN information to their relationship managers.
Customers who are yet to get their TIN are required to visit the nearest tax offices for registration purposes.
