We write to notify the investing public of the appointment of Mrs. AbioJa Laseinde as the Company Secretary/ Head of Corporate Services for Africa of PZ Cassons Nigeria Plc with effect from 3rd January 2017.
Abiola Laseinde joined PZ Cussons on 5″ September 2016 as Regional Head of Legal/Corporate Services for Africa and was appointed as the Company Secretary on 3rd of January, 2017. In this role, she is responsible for the company secretariat, legal services, property management, risk management, intellectual property and corporate governance framework for the PZ Cussons business entities in Africa. She is a lawyer, Chartered Secretary and a Corporate Governance Professional with over 16 years’ experience garnered from different industries in Nigeria with a stint in Dubai.
Prior to her current role, she was the Legal Counsel, West Africa & Deputy Company Secretary of Cadbury Nigeria Plc and Cadbury Ghana (members of the Mondeléz Group of Companies). During her work with Cadbury, she worked on the implementation of the anti trust, anti-bribery and Foreign Corrupt Practices policies for the West Africa business. She provided legal services to the Cadbury West Africa business on various aspects of the law; ranging from commercial transactions, labour and employment matters to complex contracts and confidentiality agreements. She was responsible for compliance with the law and regulations including those of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the Corporate Affairs Commission, (CAC), the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP). She is a recipient of several awards, notably as the first winner of Cadbury Nigeria MD’s special award for extra-ordinary achievements and excellent performance in 2012.
Prior to Cadbury, she worked at Multiverse Resources Plc as the Company Secretary/Legal/HR/Compliance Manager, UBA Trustees Limited (a Subsidiary of United Bank for Africa PLC) as a Senior Trust Executive, Business Development and Relationship Management and DN Meyer PJc as the Head, Corporate Services/Legal & Compliance Unit.
She holds an LL.B from Ambrose Ali University (formerly known as Edo State University) and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) and also a Council Member of the Institute. She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a Level 3 Award member of the Uh Institute of Leadership and Management. Abiola is the Chair of the Lagos State Chapter of ICSAN and the President of Caring Sisters lnc. (an NGO for the empowerment of women and children).
