UNILEVER Says 2016 Pretax Profit up 132% to N4.10 Bn, Offers Investors 10 Kobo Dividend

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Soap and detergent producer, Unilever Nigeria Plc on Thursday said its pretax profit for the period ended December 31, 2016 jumped 131.8 percent to N4.10 billion from N1.77 billion declared a year ago.

Likewise, post-tax profit soared 157.6 percent to N3.07 billion from N1.19 billion posted the same period of 2015.

Revenue of Unilever increased from N59.22 billion in 2015 end to N69.77 billion in the review period of 2016; indicating an increase of 17.8 percent, the soap and detergent producer said in a filing with the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

The board of directors of company has proposed a dividend of 10 kobo per share compared to 5 kobo paid in 2015 end.  The 10 kobo per share dividend proposed amounts to N378.33 million in the review period of 2016 compared to N189.16 million paid in 2015 audited year end.

“The Directors recommend to the shareholders the payment of a dividend in respect of the year ended 31 December, 2016, of N378,330,000 that is, 10 kobo gross per share which is payable on Friday 12 May 2017. This is subject to the deduction of appropriate withholding tax,” the company said in its annual report 2016.
