Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Union Bank of Nigeria Plc (UBN) on Wednesday launched its UnionMobileApp to take banking to the doorstep of customers.
Emeka Emuwa, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Group Managing Director of the bank at the launch said the UnionMobileApp enables customers to spend less time in their banking activities and more time in doing what they want.
“UnionMobileApp enables you to spend less time in your banking and more time in doing what you are doing,” he said.
According to him, the UnionMobileApp is the fastest growing in the industry since 2016. “This product will make your banking life simpler, if you are business person and you need an agent to pickup or deposit cash at the Bank you will be able to do that as well. So, it has a lot of options to make banking simpler for customers,” Emuwa said.
He said he looks forward to position Union Bank to the next 100 years as it celebrates its 100 years anniversary,” what expect is what you are getting, what we are showing today is part of that celebration and in different ways we will continue to engage with our customers; but we promise you two things one is that we will always be listening to them, I said earlier on we have been here 100 years and we would be here for the next 100 years.
According to him, the reason Union Bank will be in existence for the next 100 years is the continued listening and research in the needs of its customers and developing solutions and options at tackling such.
“Just expect from us reliability, consistency and trust and once you trust us, we will make sure that we continue to work on that trust, he added.
On his part Carlos Wanderley, Head, Retail Banking of Union Bank said the Bank cannot exists without customers and according to him, the segment team goes round to talk with customers to understand their issues, challenges and needs. “The retail banking in more than any other thing is an enabler,’ he said.
Also speaking at the event, Folorunsho Orimoloye, the Head Alternate Channels said Union Bank is bringing banking into customers homes and offices.
He further explained that the Bank has been a key player in the retail space and that it carries out constant interaction with customers to adequately cater for their needs. “This is a journey which has started two years ago,” Orimoloye.
According to him, the UnionMobileApp is all encompassing as it provides a great customer experience such as getting daily news that concerns and comes from the Bank, news on the go for global and international events and Nigerian news.
According to him, this product has been geared towards providing solution for everyday need. “You can communicate with customers services team from the bank for a quick resolution of your complaint and we have over 700 Agents nationwide and would double it as the year progresses.” He said.
Some of the other products on the UnionMobileApp include the UnionKorrect, UnionFuture and UnionSave accounts. The UnionKorrect account is a sub-account linked to a customer’s current or savings account. The customer is required to save a minimum of N5000 every month for four years.
He also mentioned that with this new App customers can withdraw cash from their ATM without an ATM card.
