The equities market closed today’s trading session on a bullish note as the NSE-ASI rose +0.62%, gaining +1.55% WTD, with market capitalisation printing at N13.21trillion.
LAWUNION (+9.38%) topped the gainers‘ chart, while CILEASING (-4.96%) had the worst performance.
Market breadth index closed positive as 31 stocks gained against 18 stocks that declined.
TRANSCORP (-2.16%) was the most actively traded stock with c.11bn units of shares worth c.N14bn.
Sector Performance
· NSE Banking Index: Up +0.58% , following the gains in GUARANTY (+1.06%), STANBIC (+1.79%) and FBNH (+2.00%).
· NSE Industrial Index: Advanced +1.59% , largely driven by the uptrend in DANGCEM (1.66%) and WAPCO (+1.63%).
· NSE Oil and Gas Index: Gained +1.29% on the back of the gains in TOTAL (+4.78%) and FO (+6.46%)
· NSE Consumer Goods Index: Declined -0.88% as a result of the losses in NB (-3.92%) and GUINNESS (-1.09%).

The NSE-ASI gained +0.62% in today’s trading session, driving WTD returns up by +1.55%. Going forward, we expect the market to remain stable in the near term in the absence of any major positive catalyst. However, we remain optimistic on our recommended names and advise entry into them ahead of the release of 2017 audited full year number.
