Nigerian stock market recorded an improved performance in 2017. The benchmark indicator, NSEASI, closed the year with +42.30% gain compared to -6.17% and -17.36% losses recorded in 2016 and 2015 respectively.
A review of market monthly performance revealed that the market closed eight (8) month positive versus four (4) in the negative while the highest monthly gain was recorded in May 2017 with +14.52% gain.
Analysis on the market breath at the end of year 2017 showed that it closed positive compared to the negative outlook in 2016. Market closed the year with sixty-five (65) gainers to forty-three (43) losers compared to thirty-two (32) gainers to seventy-nine (79) losers in 2016.

At the end of year 2017, the market recorded sixty-five (65) gainers compared to thirty-two (32) in 2016. DANGSUGAR tops the list of gainers with +227.33% gain while INTBREW and FIDELITYBK followed closely with +194.59% and +192.86% gain respectively. UACN recorded the least gain in 2017 with +0.54% return.

Loser (s)
On the other hand, market recorded forty-three (43) losers compared to seventy-nine (79) in 2016. MORISON tops the list of losers with -67.88% loss while JAIZBANK and FO followed closely with -49.60% and -48.50% loss respectively. TOURIST recorded the least loss in 2017 with -0.28% return.
