The Nigerian equities market closed negative today as NSE-ASI lost 0.02% to close at 29,458.21pts.
Similarly, market breadth index was negative with 17 losers against 15 gainers.
JBERGER (-6.76%) led the losers’ chart while LAWUNION (+10.00%) was the top gainer today.
AUSTINLAZ (-2.87%) was the most actively traded stock with about 85million units of shares worth about N174million.
Sector Performance
· NSE Consumer Goods Index: Fell by 0.22%, on the back of the decline in FLOURMILL (-3.62%).
· NSE Banking Index: Increased by 3.58%, due to increments in JAIZBANK (+3.03%), UBA (+2.94%), UBN (+2.48%), STERLNBANK (+1.06%) and FCMB (+1.04%).
· NSE Industrial Index: Gained 0.41%, due to the buy interest in BUACEMENT (+1.51%).
· NSE Oil & Gas Index: Inched up by 0.36%, on the back of the gain in OANDO (+2.78%).

The equities market closed down today as a result of the losses recorded in MTNN (-0.23%) and DANGCEM (-0.12%). We still maintain our view that investors should take positions in quality names with a medium to long time investment horizon as prices remain attractive at current levels.
