NDIC Strengthens Its Corruption Fight

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has fortified its crusade against corruption through the inauguration of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), underscoring a steadfast commitment to integrity and accountability.

The inauguration ceremony officiated by representatives from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at the NDIC headquarters in Abuja, saw Mr. Bello Hassan, the MD/CE of NDIC, affirm the institution’s ethos of zero tolerance for corruption, echoing its fundamental values of Teamwork, Respect, Fairness, Integrity, Professionalism, and Passion.

Speaking on behalf of Mr. Hassan, Mr. Mustapha Ibrahim, the NDIC Executive Director of Operations, highlighted the pivotal role of the ACTU in fortifying the Corporation’s operational framework through stringent compliance measures aimed at upholding ethics, transparency, and accountability within the organization.

These measures encompass robust Internal Controls, routine Risk Assessments, strict adherence to regulatory protocols, and comprehensive staff training initiatives.

Mr. Hassan lauded the inauguration as a pivotal milestone in NDIC’s enduring commitment to combat corruption and foster transparency, reaffirming Management’s unwavering support for ACTU initiatives in ensuring the Corporation’s operations maintain the highest standards of integrity, devoid of corruption, thereby bolstering public confidence.

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of ICPC, commended NDIC Management for their unwavering dedication and proactive support in establishing and advancing ACTU’s mandate to tackle corruption and promote ethical conduct.

He also lauded the efficacy and diligence of NDIC ACTU in fulfilling its obligations, resulting in the Corporation’s consistent top ranking on the annual ICPC Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard for two consecutive years.

Dr. Aliyu urged the newly appointed ACTU members to view their roles as an opportunity to build upon past successes and complement Management’s efforts in upholding the Corporation’s core values.

Ten staff members were sworn in as NDIC ACTU members during the ceremony, tasked with pivotal responsibilities including staff sensitization against corruption, conducting System Studies & Reviews and Corruption Risk Assessments to fortify internal processes, monitoring budgetary allocations, coordinating whistleblowing mechanisms, and recognizing exemplary staff performance, among other duties.
