NGXASI Declines -0.68% Dragged by Insurance, Banking Counters

The NGXASI declined by 0.68% today to close at 103,851.88pts, as the losses printed in GTCO (-1.58%), ZENITHBANK (-3.93%) and CUSTODIAN (-5.62%) propelled the local bourse into the negative terrain.

In the fixed income space, the Treasury Bills secondary market exhibited a negative performance due to the selloffs observed across mid and long tenor instruments. Thus, Average T-Bills yield increased by 6bps to close at 21.11%. Elsewhere, the FGN Bond market traded on a marginally positive note as the Average FGN Bond yield moderated by 1bp to close at 19.04%.

At the NFEM window, the Naira weakened by 0.05% to close at NGN1,599.80/USD. Crude oil price (Brent) rose by 1.70% to USD65.77pb.
