The May 2025 Gas Production Status Report from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) indicated that Nigeria’s total gas production for the month was 240,165.67 million standard cubic feet (MMscf), up 19.17% year-on-year (y/y) from 201,492.48 MMscf recorded in May 2024.

Associated Gas (AG)—natural gas produced alongside crude oil—accounted for 122,287.18 MMscf of the total gas produced, up 4% y/y from 117,632.66 MMscf in May 2024. Non-Associated Gas (NAG)—gas produced from conventional fields independent of crude oil—was 117,838.49 MMscf, compared to 83,859.82 MMscf in the corresponding period of 2024. On a month-on-month (m/m) basis, total gas production in May 2025 increased by 5.18% from the 228,309.16 MMscf recorded in April 2025.
