NGXASI Dips -0.29%, Dragged by Banking Counters

The NGXASI declined by 0.29% today to close at 141,854.48pts, as the price decreased in UBA (-5.96%), ZENITHBANK (+3.03%) and ACCESSCORP (-4.07%) drove the local equities market to the negative region.
 
In the fixed income space, the Treasury Bills secondary market traded on negative note across the short and mid tenors of the benchmark curve. Consequently, the Average T-Bills yield increased by 11bps to close at 18.48%. Moreover, the FGN Bond secondary market traded on a flat to positive note as the Average FGN Bond yield fell by 1bp to close at 16.59%.
 
At the NFEM window, the Naira appreciated by 0.74% to close at NGN1,487.90/USD. Crude oil price (Brent) fell by 0.99% to close at USD66.77pb.
