EQUITIES
The All-Share Index advanced marginally by 2bps to 200,957.89 points, as gains in ZENITHBANK (+1.5%), GTCO (+0.7%), and MTNN (+0.2%) offset sell pressures in WAPCO (-1.5%) and NGXGROUP (-6.5%). Consequently, the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns settled higher at +4.2% and +29.1%, respectively.
The total volume traded advanced by 26.1% to 678.13 million units, valued at NGN33.14 billion, and exchanged in 42,222 deals. ACCESSCORP was the most traded stock by volume at 134.59 million units, while MTNN was the most traded stock by value at NGN11.06 billion.
On Sectors, the Banking (+0.3%) and Consumer Goods (+0.2%) indices advanced, while the Insurance (-0.8%), Industrial Goods (-0.2%) and Oil and Gas (-0.2%) indices declined.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was negative (0.9x), as 30 tickers gained relative to 34 losers. PREMPAINTS (+10.0%) and LEGENDINT (+9.9%) led the gainers, while UPL (-9.2%) and SUNUASSUR (-8.9%) recorded the highest losses of the day.
CURRENCY
The official FX rate appreciated by 1.0% to NGN1,382.00/USD.
MONEY MARKET & FIXED INCOME
The overnight lending rate contracted by 2bps to 22.3% in the absence of any significant funding pressure on the system.
The NTB secondary market traded on a bullish note as the average yield contracted by 2bps to 17.8%. Across the curve, the average yield expanded at the short (+9bps) end, due to selloff of the 42DTM (+37bp) bill, but contracted at the mid (-5bps) and long (-6bps) segments, driven by demand for the 175DTM (-27bps) and 329DTM (-31bps) bills, respectively. Similarly, the average yield contracted by 1bp to 20.4% in the OMO segment.
The FGN bond secondary market traded on a bearish note as the average yield expanded by 1bp to 15.6%. Across the benchmark curve, the average yield expanded at the short (+2ps) and mid (+2bp) segments due to profit-taking activities on the FEB-2031 (+7bps) and JUN-2033 (+4bps) bonds, respectively, but closed flat at the long end.
