Financial Reporting: Diamond Bank Institutes Award

Diamond Bank has instituted Award to promote excellence in financial reporting in Nigeria.  

 

 

The first Award ceremony is billed to hold before the end of this year and will be rewarding journalists that excelled in financial reporting, assessed by works done in 2009.Head, Corporate Communi-cations of the bank, Charles Udoh, told journalists in Lagos yesterday that the Award tagged “Diamond Bank Award for excellence in Financial Reporting” will provide a platform to reward media men and women who have consistently promoted the financial services industry through responsible and professional journalism.

 

 

He said: “Diamond Bank believes that the Award would go a long way towards motivating these exceptional individuals to continuously aspire to give their utmost best in pursuance of excellence in their chosen profession and by extension help improve the standard of journalism in Nigeria to match the very best in the world.” Udoh disclosed that the winning entry will be rewarded with a cash prize of N3million, while the second and third entries will be rewarded with N1.5 million and N1 million respectively.

 

 

To ensure the award is a resounding success, he added, the bank has rigorously selected individuals who have distinguished themselves and provided leadership in several capacities within the sphere of their chosen profession to constitute the panel of judges.

 

 

“The judges will review entries and select winners based on the originality, content, language, writing style, objectivity and balance. The diamond award will be a catalyst for improving the quality of public information through excellence in journalism and we hope that it will add value to the media industry and the practitioners,” he said, pointing out that the details of the Award will be published in the print media in the next few days.
