The Council of The Nigerian Stock Exchange met on Friday, August 13, 2010 in which the members noted and affirmed the steps taken by the Securities and Exchange Commission towards resolving the crises that had affected The Nigerian Stock Exchange.  The Council wishes to assure the investing and general public of safety of their investment and continued operation of The Nigerian Stock Exchange in accordance with global best practices. 

 

Addressing the stockbrokers after the meeting, the Interim President of the Council, Mallam Ballama Manu assured them that the Council would do everything possible to improve the fortunes of investors and operators.  Responding on behalf of stockbrokers, the Chief Executive Officer of Clearview Investment and Company Limited, Canon Olu Odejimi pledged the support of stockbrokers to the Council in its efforts to move the market forward.

 

Meanwhile, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, CON has voluntarily elected not to attend any Council meeting or activities of The Exchange pending the outcome of his appeal against the decision nullifying his election as President of the Council of The Exchange.
