The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Wednesday, in Abuja, inaugurated the office complex of the steering committee of African Central Bank (ACB), to foster financial integration among African countries.
CBN governor, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, at the ceremony, said the decision to locate the headquarters of ACB in Abuja was taken by the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government in 2005.
He said the functions of the committee, according to the memorandum of understanding between Federal Government and the AU, included initiating and monitoring the conduct of in-depth studies within the context of the establishment of the bank.
