At least, nine countries and 100 foreign firms have confirmed their participation in this year‘s edition of the Lagos International Trade Fair, scheduled for November.
The Chairman, Trade Promotion Board, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Aderemi Bello, disclosed this at a briefing on the fair on Tuesday in Lagos.
He said, “We already have firm assurances of participation from over 100 companies and from countries. These include the United Kingdom, Ghana, Malaysia, Jamaica, China, Pakistan, Indonesia, European Union and Taiwan ROC.
â€ÂÂMany more have made initial enquiries and we are finalising arrangement to confirm their participation.â€ÂÂ
Bello said that the fair would hold in nine exhibition halls and adjourning outdoor spaces. According to him, â€ÂÂOver 90 per cent of the spaces in the halls have been allocated to confirmed exhibitors in 10 sectors, namely; food and beverages, electrical and electronics, and furniture and fittings among others.â€ÂÂ
He explained that the exhibition, which would be mainly in-door had been provided with major logistics and facilities, like uninterrupted power supply through the public power supply, which was supported by five 650KVA power generating sets.
Other facilities, according to him, include provisions of securities, transport control and organisation, among others.
He added that the body had employed a scientific approach to space allocation, with demarcated floor plan and coding system for ease of allocation and identification of space and stands.
He added, “e-Portal platform for online payment, provision of services from government agencies, like KAI Bridge, LAWMA, well managed information desk and an adequate directional signs to guide visitors are in place.â€ÂÂ
He, however, called on more investors, from both the private and public sectors to come and take advantage of the fair.
“There are tremendous opportunities for participating in this popular trade promotion platform,†he added.
