The Central Bank of Nigeria, Securities Exchange Commission and other players in the financial sector are set for the maiden edition of the Centre for Corporate Governance‘s workshop on corporate governance.
CCG, in a statement on Friday, said the exercise would support business organisations and complement the efforts of the regulators in improving corporate governance in Nigeria.
The workshop, titled, “Disclosure, Conflict of Interest: The Very Thin Line,†scheduled for November 18, 2010, is being organised in collaboration with the CBN.
“The workshop emphasises the importance of transparency and disclosure in business and links them with sustainable success and profitability.
“Expected participants at the workshop, according to the statement, include top management officials and decision makers. Prof. Paul Strebel of the prestigious Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland is the Facilitator and Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability, CBN, Dr. Kingsley Moghalu, will deliver the key note address.â€ÂÂ
Speakers at the workshop will include the Director-General, SEC, Ms. Arunma Oteh; Chairman, Fate Foundation, Mr. Fola Adeola; President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Gen. Sebastian Owuama (retd); and Registrar, Corporate Affairs Commission, Dr. Mahmud Bello.
Others are the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Christopher Knight; Managing Director, Mobil Oil Nigeria Plc, Mr. Adetunji Oyebanji; former Managing Director, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, Alhaji Ganiyu Ogunleye; and President, Institute of Directors, Mr. Chike Nwanze, among others.
