The Africa Commission and the National Economic Management Team secretariat on Tuesday hosted a workshop to raise awareness within the leadership about pertinent issues related to Nigeria’s competitiveness ranking in the Global Competitiveness Index under the commission’s “Benchmarking African Competitiveness,†initiative.
The event, entitled “Assessing Nigeria’s Competitiveness,†was sponsored by the Danish Government and held in partnership with the Africa Commission and the NEMT, with the aim of creating an opportunity for decision makers, policy makers and other stakeholders to focus on the question of strengthening Nigeria’s national competitiveness.
According to a statement on Tuesday, the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report benchmarks countries’ competitiveness as a set of institutions, policies and factors that determine the level of productivity of an economy.
Nigeria is currently ranked 127th out of 139 countries on the index.
