Ecobank’s legal team wins award

The legal department of Ecobank Nigeria Plc has won the legal team of the year award in the corporate/banking and finance category at the maiden edition of the Nigerian Legal Awards.

According to a statement by the bank on Tuesday, the Nigerian Legal Awards represents the first and the most prestigious category of legal awards in the history of the Nigerian legal system.

It seeks to recognise outstanding achievements in the legal profession. The awards honour individuals, organisations and firms whose noble contributions in a particular niche area have had greater impact on commerce, good governance and nation building.

Declaring the event open, the Publisher of Business Day, Mr. Frank Aigbogun, explained the idea behind the unique event.

According to him, the Nigerian legal awards was organised in recognition of the contributions of the gentlemen of the Nigerian Bar and Bench who have made immense contributions to the development of the legal profession, especially in Nigeria.

Responding to media questions on the bank‘s recognition, the Company Secretary and Chief Legal Counsel, Ecobank, Mrs. Adenike Laoye, attributed the award to the steadfastness, efficiency, professionalism and dedication of the entire staff of the unit.
