The management of Intercontinental Bank Plc has recalled 154 out of the 200 employees, who were sacked on New Year’s eve.
This was disclosed by the President, Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions, Mr. Sunday Salako, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, on Wednesday.
According to Salako, the development is part of the bank’s efforts to resolve the industrial dispute it and two others have with the association.
He said that the affected employees had been issued with letters of recall by the bank with some of them resuming work on Wednesday.
The ASSBIFI boss expressed satisfaction with the level of the ongoing negotiations, adding that the workers’ unions had reached agreements with the two other affected banks, Oceanic Bank Plc and Unity Bank International Plc.
He said, “Intercontinental Bank has responded positively to the ongoing negotiations. We have been monitoring the branches and I can tell you that they have even recalled 154 workers from those sacked and some of them resumed work yesterday (Wednesday).â€ÂÂ
Salako also stressed that there would not be any need to picket three banks anymore, even as the union was waiting to conclude negotiations with Intercontinental Bank.
