GlaxoSmithKline to reward investors with N1.20 special dividend

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-GlaxoSmithKline Nigeria Plc operating in the Healthcare sector of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) is set to reward shareholders of the Company with a N1.20 Kobo special dividend in commemoration of its 40th Anniversary.

This was contained in a notice from the Company to the Stock Exchange Thursday March 03 2011 and made available to investadvocate in Lagos Nigeria.

GlaxoSmithKline in year 2009 FYE paid a dividend of 0.75 Kobo compared to N1.20 Kobo; indicating an increase of 60 percent (60%) in the review period.

The N1.20 Kobo proposed dividend payment is coming on the heels of the resolution at a Board meeting held Monday February 28 2011.

The Board of GlaxoSmithKline affirmed that it has proposed a dividend of 90 Kobo per share for year 2010 Financial Year End (FYE) and an additional one-off special dividend of 30 Kobo per share in commemoration of the Company’s 40th anniversary; making it a total of N1.20 Kobo in the review period.

However, the special dividend payment would be paid to investors whose names appear on the Register of Members at the close of business on Thursday April 28 2011.

GlaxoSmithKline say the Register of Members and Transfer of Books of the Company shall be closed from Friday, April 29 to Thursday, May 5, 2011, both days inclusive.

The Healthcare Firm has scheduled its 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Shell Nigeria Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos at 11am.

Meanwhile Financial Results of the Company made available to investadvocate as at the of filling in the report is the Third Quarter (Q3) of year 2010 which shows that Glaxosmithkline declared a N1.67 billion Profit After Tax (PAT) in the review period.

While Profit Before Tax (PBT) is N2.417 billion and N12.803 billion as Turnover.
