The Managing Director, Niger Insurance Plc, Dr. Justus Uranta, has said that the positive changes recorded in the insurance industry could be traced to the commitment of both the operators and the National Insurance Commission.
In a statement issued by Niger Insurance on Tuesday, he commended the Nigerian insurance operators and National Insurance Commission for positively transforming the industry in the last 30 years.
Uranta spoke during the company’s recent management retreat in Lagos.
Uranta said, “In spite of the apathy against insurance by Nigerians for whatever reasons, the industry has come a long way. Things have changed positively in the last 30 years and those who have been around for sometime now would confirm this.â€ÂÂ
Uranta said that despite the global financial meltdown and its implications, the company would continue to boost staff morale, among other things.
He said, “Despite the global financial meltdown and its impact on the economy, the management decided to increase the motivation level of the workers by approving the promotion of 128 staff.â€ÂÂ
According to him, Niger Insurance has commenced moves to ensure that the populace change their attitude towards the insurance industry and start embracing it as a way of life.
Uranta said, “Niger Insurance has been embarking on branch expansion drive because we are conscious of people’s apathy towards insurance. People have not really embraced insurance as expected. We have, therefore, resolved to take insurance to their doorsteps to make people embrace the insurance culture.â€ÂÂ
The Niger Insurance boss noted that the company had opened two additional regional offices in Sokoto and Yola, bringing its regional offices to six.
