Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Kyari Bukar has resumed duty as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of the Nigeria’s Capital Market Clearing House, the Central Securities Clearing System Limited (CSCS); following the retirement of Onyewuchi Asinobi last March.

At   a brief ceremony held in honour of the new CSCS, Oscar Onyema, Chairman of the Board of CSCS, said that he was indeed impressed with Bukar’s wealth of experience and was very optimistic that his experience would be brought to the fore in further enhancing the business activities of the CSCS.

Onyema said that Bukar was picked for the job through a rigorous recruitment process involving both the entire Board of the CSCS and a leading Human Resources Consultancy Firm.

However, the appointment of Bukar new MD/CEO for the CSCS marks a major highlight in recent changes at the Clearing House which has made strategic appointments including the elevation of Peter Egunbiyi, the former General Manager (GM) Operations, to the position of Executive Director (ED) Operations.

Egunbiyi had held the position of the Acting MD/CEO until the resumption of Bukar as substantive CEO.

The CSCS also recently did some strategic hiring by engaging Mr. Vincent Ukoh and Mrs. ‘Bunmi Morenikeji as Head of Finance and Head of Human Capital and Administration respectively.

Both individuals are trained Accountants; who possess impressive work experience which they hope to bring to bear as the Company repositions itself for greater challenges in the present Capital Market.

While responding, Bukar expressed delight at the opportunity of joining the CSCS and affirmed his commitment towards the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and the CSCS transformational goals.

“Certainly, it is fantastic coming back home because a little you contribute the impact comes magnifying and that in terms of people that are actually around you and the institutions you come to meet. I believe that any organisation that requires transformative change certainly requires fresh perspectives, fresh areas to look at, and bring the organisation forward”, Bukar said.

A Statement Thursday by Wale Tokede, Seniour Manager, Corporate Communications of the NSE affirmed that before joining the CSCS, Bukar was the MD/CEO of Valucard Nigeria Plc where he was instrumental in turning around the Company from a nil-profit-making entity to what could aptly be termed a highly profitable entity before his exit.

“With proven versatility and a proficiency in Information Technology (IT) systems, Bukar previously spent 14 (fourteen) years working with Hewlett- Packard (HP); one of the World’s leading IT Companies, where he garnered valuable experience having occupied several Technical and Senior positions amongst which are: Research and Development Engineer,  Manufacturing Development Engineer, Marketing Program Manager, Senior IT Consultant and Worldwide Technical Marketing Manager, within divisions of the Company” the Statement said.

Also, Bukar possesses a background in Banking having spent a stint working with FSB International Bank Plc (now Fidelity Bank Plc) as ED in charge of Electronic Banking, Information Technology and Operations.
