CBN has restored confidence in banking sector –Jonathan

President-Goodluck-JonathanPresident Goodluck Jonathan has attributed the growing confidence in the banking sector to the reforms undertaken by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Jonathan said this at the inauguration of a new CBN building in Port Harcourt on Friday.

He said the various reforms carried out by the apex bank within a few years had restored confidence in the banking system.

The President explained that the initiatives of the CBN in the real sectors of the nation’s economy were in line with the transformation agenda of his administration.

He observed that the CBN had also put in place good infrastructural facilities for its operations across the country.

He said, “The initiatives of the bank in the real sectors of the economy and their statutory effects are in tandem with my government’s transformation agenda, a major plank of which is to make Nigeria the preferred investment destination in sub-Saharan Africa.”

Represented by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Jonathan described the new CBN building as a fall-out of the apex bank’s deliberate policy of renovating and updating its facilities.
