As the anti-fuel subsidy removal protests intensified in major cities across the country Tuesday, the Senate has asked its leadership to meet President Goodluck Jonathan to demand the immediate suspension of the full deregulation of the downstream sector of the oil industry and the associated removal of petrol subsidy.
The senators also asked Senate President David Mark, who was expected to lead other principal officers to the meeting with Jonathan last night, to press it on the president to shift the implementation of the subsidy removal to April 1, 2012 in the light of the prevailing circumstance.
