Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Union Bank of Nigeria Plc (UBN) Friday announced the appointment of Udoma Udo Udoma and two others to its Board of Directors (BOD).
This is contained in a Notice from the Bank to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and made available to www.investadvocateng.com in Lagos Nigeria.
The Bank said this is coming on the heels of their Board of Directors meetings on September 14 2012 and January 29 2013.
Udo Udoma and James Macathur were appointed Non-Executive Director, while Oyinkan Adewale was appointed Executive Director/Chief Finance Officer (ED/CFO).
Senator Udoma Udo is currently a Senior Partner and Head of Udo Udoma and Bello-Osagie, a Corporate Law Firm, established by him in 1983. A Lawyer by training, he is also a seasoned Politician and accomplished Legal Consultant with legal expertise in Company Law, Securities Law and Capital Market.
He holds BA and MA degrees from Oxford University and is a graduate of the Nigerian Law School. As a two term Senator of the Federal Republic 1999 – 2007, he served as Chief Whip and Leader, South-South Caucus of the Senate; Vice Chairman, Senate Foreign Affairs Committee; Chairman, Senate Appropriate Committee. Senator Udoma was a Law lecturer at the University of, and had, at various times, served on the Board of several companies. He is currently Chairman of UAC of Nigeria Plc, Vice Chairman of Linkage Assurance Plc, and Director of Unilever Nigeria Plc.
He has successfully accomplished many governmental assignments, including Special Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; first Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abuja; Member of the Advisory Team of legal experts set up by the Technical Committee on Privatization and Commercialization (TCPC), Member of Vision 2010 Committee, Non-Executive Chairman of the Securities & Exchange Commission, and several others.
Senator Udoma is a recipient of many honours and awards, including ThisDay Newspaper Best Nigerian Senator award; Honorary LL.D by University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He is a member of the International Bar Association, Economic Summit Group; Ikoyi Club, Lagos Motor Boat Club; and Metropolitan Club.
James Macarthur graduated from University of Nottingham, UK in 2001 with MEng (Hons) in Chemical Engineering. Between 2002 and 2006, he worked with Ernst & Young LLP as Investment Management Audi, Assurance & Advisory Services.
In 2007 was moved to Mergers and Acquisitions, European Financial Services Group of the firm. He acted as financial advisor on a range of mid-market financial services transactions including acquisitions, disposals, fund raising and strategic reviews.
From June 2008 to date, he has been working as Head of Investments at Richard Chandler Corporation, Singapore. He is involved across the investment process, including idea generation, investment analysis, decision making and execution. He is in charge of Director of over 25 Investment Companies across 5 jurisdictions.
While Oyinkan Adewale graduated from University of Ibadan with B.A. French in 1980. She enrolled for ICAN Articleship with Coopers and Lybrand in 1981 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984. She joined Citibank Nigeria in 1989 as Deputy Financial Controller and was at various times Financial Controller, Assistant General Manager, Deputy General Manager and in 2001 she was appointed General Manager (Citigroup).
In 2003 she set up O A Financial Consulting and became the Chief Executive and Founder, specialising in consultancy services in financial control systems and training and later in June 2004 founded SIAO Chartered Accountant and became founding partner.
She became the Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer Africa for Renaissance Group between April 2007 and October 2009. She moved to Oceanic Bank Int’l Nigeria Plc as was appointed Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer/Chief Risk Officer by CBN. She was member of the Board as well as member of Executive Committee. From 2012 to date, Mrs. Oyinkan moved to ETI as Integration Manager & Group Head of MIS Implementation of the firm.
