Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) Tuesday launched its Alternative Securities Market (ASeM) for Emerging Companies with high potential for growth in Nigeria.
In his presentation, Oscar Onyema, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NSE said that ASeM will be a specialised board on the Nigerian bourse where small to mid-sized companies can access the capital market under less stringent rules and requirements to raise long term, low cost capital.
According to him, Asem seeks to address major challenges of emerging businesses in Nigeria by looking at difficulty in accessing long term capital due to high cost of funds as a result of perceived high risk, informal nature of operations and inadequate accounting standards, controls and management of resources.
