First Aluminum Appoints New Managing Director

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-First Aluminium Nigeria Plc Monday announced it has appointed a new Managing Director (MD) in the name of Gavin Molloy.

The company disclosed this in a notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in Lagos Nigeria; the appointment will take effect from 2nd August 2013.

According to First Aluminium, Molloy replaces Elfrink who has resigned his appointment as MD with effect from 2nd August 2013.

Gavin Molloy obtained his BSC (Hons) Building degree from the South Bank University, London. He also has a Level 4 NVQ in Management. Mr. Molloy started his career with the H. Young Group of Companies, Structural Engineers, with operations in Africa and the UK. From 1982 until 1994 he held roles within the Group from a site supervisor in Khartoum, Sudan to a Board Member of H. Young & Co (Overseas) Ltd. For 3 years he held the role of Commercial Manager of Thircon Ltd, in North Yorkshire.

In 1995 Molloy joined the Inlaks Group in West Africa and set up and ran Inlaks Ghana Ltd. In 1998 he moved to Nigeria and held a multiple role as Divisional Head of First Aluminium Nigeria Packaging Division, as Managing Director of a subsidiary (Shongai Packaging) whilst remaining as MD of Inlaks Ghana Ltd.

He was appointed as an Executive Director (ED) of First Aluminium on 9th December 2004 and promoted to Acting Managing Director of the business on 13th April 2007. Molloy was confirmed as Managing Director on 15th August 2007. Mr. Molloy resigned his position in October 2010 and after a short period of consultancy work returned to the UK to undertake some personal projects.

The board approved the appointment Molloy at a meeting held on 24th July 2013.
