Multiverse Appoints Arnold Ekpe Director

Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Multiverse Plc has announced the appointment of Arnold Ekpe as a director of the company effective 15th August, 2013.

This is contained in a notice from the company to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

According to Multiverse, joining the company with wealth of experience, Ekpe holds first class honours degree in mechanical engineering and a masters degree in business administration from Manchester University and Manchester Business School respectively.

With over 30 years of experience in the banking industry drawn from Africa and beyond, Ekpe was the vice president and head of sub-Saharan Africa structured trade and corporate finance at Citibank in the 1990’s. He is a former CEO of United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) (2002 -2004) and has also been a partner in one of the leading private equity firms in Nigeria.

Multiverse affirmed that Ekpe, with an abiding passion in promoting pan-African private-sector initiatives became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ecobank Group (2005 – 2012) having previously held the same position from 1996 to 2001.

He turned Ecobank into an undisputed leader in pan-African banking with its presence in over 35 countries with over 1,100 branches across the continent.

He retired from Ecobank at the end of 2012. Multiverse Plc believes that Mr. Ekpe’s immense experience will be brought to bear in the running of the company.

Ekpe is married with three children.
