The Nigerian Stock Exchange has admitted African Paints Nigeria Plc’s additional units of shares into the Daily Official List.
According to the NSE’s report for the week ended August 30, 2013, 109 million additional units were admitted early last week.
The report noted that the additional shares arose from the successful rights issue held by the company.
Also, a total of 12.9 billion units of shares were added to the outstanding shares of Transnational Incorporation of Nigerian Plc on the conclusion of its rights issue.
In the Over-the-Counter Bond market, a turnover of 105.623 million units valued at N114.29bn were exchanged last week in 693 deals.
This was in contrast to 136.734 million units worth N139.69bn exchanged the preceding week, in 866 deals.
The report noted that last week, a total of 2,748 units of NewGold Exchange Traded Funds valued at N6.004m were executed in 13 deals compared with 1,670 units valued at N3.550m transacted the preceding week in three deals.
Also, 1,345 units of FGN bonds valued at N1.502m were traded last week in 14 deals in contrast to 1,595 units valued at N1.808m transacted the previous week in seven deals.
Thus, the NSE All-Share Index declined by 0.9 per cent to close on Friday at 36,248.53 points, down from 36,526.74 points recorded at the beginning of the week.
The market capitalisation of the listed equities decreased by 0.75 per cent from N11.568tn at the beginning of the week, to close on Friday, at N11.496tn.
The NSE 30 Index depreciated by 1.46 per cent to close at 1,689.43 points.
In all, a turnover of 1.490 billion shares worth of N14.832bn were exchanged by investors last week in the equities’ market in 24,590 deals.
This was in contrast to 1.118 billion shares valued at N12.941bn, exchanged the week before in 24,489 deals.
At the close of trading activities for the week, the Financial Services sector led on the activity chart, as a total of 1.052 billion shares valued at N8.042bn were traded in 13,900 deals.
The conglomerates sector followed in the activity chart with 234.641 million shares valued at N555m traded in 1,452 deals.
