Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Christine Lagarde, Managing Director (MD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Wednesday endorsed the nomination of Janet Yellen to head the United States (US) Federal Reserve.
“I welcome President Obama’s nomination of Janet Yellen for the Fed Chair. Janet is an excellent choice for this very important position. I look forward to continuing to work with her,” Lagarde said.
This is coming on the heels of the official nomination of Yellen to the world most influential central bank by President Barack Obama.
Reports say Yellen’s nomination will be the first time a woman would lead the Fed Reserve in its 100-year history.
Yellen’s nomination is expected to be a continuation of the policies the Fed has established under Ben Bernanke.
