Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-Ecobank Nigeria is supporting the cashlite initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with card 4 prizes promo.
The Bank in a Statement made available to InvestAdvocate in Lagos Nigeria said the promo is part of efforts in supporting the use of alternative payment channels by customers and also strengthening the CBN’s cashless policy.
Ecobank Nigeria affirmed the promo will run for three (3) months and will see customers of the bank winning prizes that includes sedan cars, all-expense paid trip to Brazil and scholarships valued N300, 000 each for different sets of winners to be drawn from different parts of the country.
Tunde Kuponiyi, the bank’s Head, Cards and e-banking at the unveiling of the card 4 prizes promo said there will be three (3) monthly draws and a grand finale draw to be held in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja simultaneously.
Kuponiyi said 15 winners will emerge monthly from the draws. ‘’Each of these winners will take home smart phones; LCD TVs; air conditioners; home theatres and power generating sets. There is also instant reward for customers who walk into any of the bank branches, pick up debit cards and activate them instant,’’ he said.
To select winners, Kuponiyi affirmed that “a point based rating” will be applied to choose winning customers. ‘’Meaning winning customers will be awarded points for every transaction done on the bank’s alternative channels,’’ Ecobank Nigeria’s Head, Cards and e-banking said.
According to him, the alternative channels are cash withdrawals from Ecobank’s ATMs, transactions made on PoS terminals and internet payments. ‘’Withdrawals done on other bank’s ATMs will not attract any points,” Kuponiyi said.
The pilot scheme of Nigeria’s central bank cash-less policy commenced in Lagos State on April 1, 2012.
