Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday swore in eight (8) new ministers 10 days before Nigeria’s 2015 presidential election.
“This is in injury time. It is like bringing on a player when the match is about to end,” Jonathan said at a swearing in ceremony in the capital Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
“You are coming at an injury time and your dancing steps will be watched by everyone,” he said.
The list of appointees include, Patricia Akwashiki a senator from central Nasarawa state, was appointed information minister.
Musiliu Obanikoro, from southwest and former gubernatorial aspirant Lagos state was named minister of state for foreign affairs. He formerly held the minister of state for defense, which Augustine Akobundu, from eastern Abia state was appointed.
On the list is Nicholas Ada, a lawyer from Benue state, was appointed minister of state for foreign affairs.
Others are Joel Ikenya, from east of Taraba state, appointed as minister for labour, Fidelis Nwankwo, from eastern Ebonyi state, takes up the appointment of the minister of state for health, Hauwa Lawan, from northern Jigawa state, is minister of state Niger Delta Affairs; while Kenneth Kobani, from Rivers state was made minister of state for trade and industry.
The Nigerian presidential election comes up March 28, 10 days from today; Jonathan will be in a keenly contested poll against closest rival Muhammadu Buhari from the All Progressive Congress (APC).
