Lagos (INVESTADVOCATE)-The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) said on Monday it has received the 2015 Award for Promoting Best Practice Reporting and Corporate Disclosure from the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI).
This is the third award the NSE is receiving for best practice within a month, it was first presented with the African Regulator of the year at the 6th African Business Leadership Awards in London on July 25, 2015 and clinched the Financial Institution of the year award on August 5, 2015 at The Oil & Gas Year Nigeria Award, according to a statement from the Exchange.
Muda Yusuf, the director general (DG) said the objective of the annual awards is to recognise, celebrate and promote private and public institutions that have exhibited the core values of best business practices, growth through innovations, business sustainability and have impacted the society positively.
He said that the LCCI Commerce and Industry Award prides itself as a highly credible event where winners emerge through a painstaking selection process from hundreds of entries backed by feedbacks from dedicated research and market intelligence.
On his part, Oscar Onyema, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Nigeria’s Exchange said the award highlights the positive reaction to the strong corporate governance regime that the NSE have emplaced and the success achieved with its listed companies on timely financial and information disclosures.
“We are encouraged to do more by ensuring that our listed companies continue to act in the best interest of investors thereby adding tangible value in protecting and sustaining the corporate health of the exchange and the capital market in general,” Onyema added.
The award was presented to NSE by the president of the LCCI Alhaji Remi Belo at the ceremony which took place at the Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos State on Saturday, August 8, 2015.
