In furtherance of its education & advocacy objective, FintechNGR will next week begin its Fintech Knowledge Series for Regulators at the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC).
This initiative is a core market enlightenment project by FintechNGR for all regulators with the roll-out starting with SEC Nigeria, who continues to encourage capacity building for a new market-enabling regulatory environment.
Recall that at the recently concluded capital market committee (CMC) meeting held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018; Ms. Mary Uduk, the Acting Director-General of SEC who chaired the CMC meeting alluded to the growing influence of Fintechs in the financial market and the need for regulators of the capital market to take advantage of the Fintech offerings in moving the Capital Market forward. She equally emphasised the focus of the Commission on capacity building, knowledge sharing, advocacy and collaboration with relevant entities.
According to her, “the Capital Market needs to create an enabling environment that is attractive enough for Fintechs to innovate and adopt new trends in technology to provide a robust and market-led regulatory framework for proper adoption of suitable technology”.
A Committee is being set-up to draw a Fintech Adoption roadmap for the Capital Market.
This 1-day executive master class will therefore provide the first, in a series of interventions towards capacity building and harmonization of understand about and around the goals for the financial market.
