IMF will host a two-day conference on a forthcoming book on “Sovereign Debt: A Guide for Economists and Practitioners“ on September 13-14, 2018. On this occasion, the IMF’s Managing Director, Christine Lagarde, will deliver opening remarks on September 13. There will also be a panel discussion on “Sovereign Debt: Challenges Ahead” chaired by First Deputy Managing Director, David Lipton, featuring Barry Eichengreen, Ricardo Hausmann, Carmen Reinhart and Kenneth Rogoff.

This conference is designed to showcase and support the development of a new book – Sovereign Debt: A Guide for Economists and Practitioners – edited by S. Ali Abbas (IMF), Alex Pienkowski (IMF) and Kenneth Rogoff (Harvard University). The book, which is expected to come out in 2019, aims to connect all major sovereign debt themes into one coherent text that is accessible to policymakers, practitioners and academics alike. The editors have gathered together some of the leading sovereign debt experts as chapter authors and discussants.
