MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Up +0.21% on Gains in Banking, Consumer Goods Counters

ASI as at 12.00pm: +0.21%. 

Market movers: CORNERST (+8.16%), JAIZBANK (+8.06%), COURTVILLE (-4.00%) and TRANSCORP (-3.74%).

Sector Performances: Banking (+1.08%), Consumer Goods (+0.17%), Industrial and Oil & Gas.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and value jumped by 628% and 255% respectively compared to yesterday as investors have exchanged about 335million units of shares valued at N1.67billion. VERITASKAP is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 121million units of shares accounting for about 36% of the total volume. 

Likely close: In the absence of a significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM and MTNN, the market may close up today if the gains recorded in Banking and Consumer Goods sectors persist.
