MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigerian Stocks Rise +0.29%, Driven by Banking, Industrial Counters

Market movers:  STANBIC (+9.91%),  NEIMETH (+9.55%), SOVRENINS (-8.33%)  and NPFMCRFBK (-7.22%) .

Sector Performances: Banking (+0.22%),  Industrial (+0.03%), Oil and Gas (-0.45%)  and Consumer Goods.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, total volume and  total value decreased by about 70% and 81% compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 41million units of shares worth  N561million.  STANBIC (+9.91%) is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 4million units of shares accounting for about 10% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant losses in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close up today if the gains in Banking and Industrial sectors persist.
