MIDDAY UPDATE: Nigeria Stocks Decline -0.53%, Dragged by Losses in Banking Sector, MTNN

ASI as at 12.00pm: -0.53%.

Market movers:  MBENEFIT (-9.09%),  DAARCOMM (-8.70%), LINKASSURE (+10.00%) and PRESTIGE (+9.76%).

Sector Performances: Banking (-0.42%),  Consumer Goods (+0.04%), Industrial (+0.01) and Oil and Gas.

Market activity: In today’s early trade, while total volume dipped by 53%, total value rose by  13% compared to this time yesterday, as investors have traded about 50million units of shares worth  N962million.  FBNH is the most actively traded stock thus far with about 5million units of shares accounting for about 10% of the total volume.

Likely close: In the absence of significant gains in the prices of DANGCEM and MTN, the market may close down today if the losses across the Banking sector and MTNN persists.
