The local equities market closed northwards by 0.27% as the NGX-ASI settled at 52,235.88pts.
In today’s trade, market breadth index was positive with 26 gainers against 18 losers.
HONYFLOUR (+10.00%) was the top gainer today, while NB (-10.00%) led the losers.
ACCESSCORP (-3.38%) was the most actively traded stock with about 1.23 billion units of shares worth about N12.51 billion.
Sector Performances
· NGX Consumer Goods Index: Increased by 1.98%, driven by the gains seen in HONYFLOUR (+10.00%), CADBURY (+9.82%) and PZ (+7.47%).
· NGX Oil and Gas Index: Rose by 0.15%, propelled by the uptick in the price of ETERNA (+5.08%).
· NGX Banking Index: Declined by 0.45%, on the back of the losses printed in ACCESSCORP (-3.38%), STERLINGNG (-2.98%) and UNITYBNK (-1.82%).
· NGX Industrial Index: Fell by 0.05%, due to the bearish sentiment observed in BERGER (-14.97%) and WAPCO (-0.83%).

The local bourse recorded a positive performance due to the gains seen in the Consumer Goods and Oil/Gas sectors. Going forward, we expect investor’s sentiments to be swayed by the search for real positive returns and developments in the interest rate space. We reiterate that this may be a great period to pick up some quality names with a medium to long-term investment horizon.
